Adaptive Reuse - Utility Space to Lodging Conversion
Alexandria, Virginia
Description
The goal was to convert a 500 square foot utility space to a suite for embassy guests. Our objectives were to maximize living space, add a sound barrier to the upper levels, and create a comfortable, efficient experience for guests.
A full-size refrigerator was nested under the stairs as the former laundry room became a galley kitchen. A queen-size sleeping alcove optimized space. An egress window and two courses of acoustical sheet rock were installed.
Treasures from around the globe – a balalaika from Moscow, mammoth tea tins from Tokyo, and Persian rugs appoint a curated this "journeyercomfortable and functional.
